Avoiding plagiarism in written works is of equal importance, but this section is intended to help demystify your responsibilities as students in developing and creating design work.

Make smart choices about what you make for your portfolio to continue to use your work professionally. Not everything that you are allowed to use in academic settings is appropriate or allowed in your professional portfolio.

Once again, the Capilano Library has the tools you need! Citing sources is an important part of academic and professional success. In design, art, and the social sciences, we generally use APA format for our citations and bibliographies. This applies to:

• Essays, research papers, and presentations
• Project documentation
• Anywhere you are using the images, ideas, quotations, artwork, design, research, or inspiration of another.
• Anywhere you are using AI-generated content. </aside>
